Adult, Individual
55-minute, in person sessions are scheduled on a weekly basis. I work with adults struggling with a variety of concerns including trauma, grief, loss, anger, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, relationships, and identity.

My therapy style is very much guided by you. My goal is to meet you where you are; I will often begin sessions by asking, "What would be helpful for our time today?" Just like starting anything else that is new, starting therapy can feel awkward. This feeling should dissipate within the first 5 sessions. After that, therapy will likely feel hard but it's a "hard" that is intentionally invited by you as you work on and face issues that are more easily avoided. You will find what you put into therapy is what you get out of it. Therapy is not like waving a magic wand. It is hard. It is work. It is also rewarding. It should always feel safe.
Child & Adolescent, Individual
55-minute, in person sessions are scheduled on a weekly basis. I work with children of all ages. I work with children with concerns regarding trauma, grief, loss, behavior, anger, violence, emotion regulation, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, hyperactivity and focus, social skills, relationships, and identity.

Typically the first session is with the parent only. Parent involvement will vary after the first session. Therapy with young children tends to include more parent involvement than with older clients.
Family
I worked for about 4 years providing in-home family therapy. I come from a family systems approach. I truly love working with families and helping people to rebuild relationships with one another.
Trauma
I work with adult and child-aged trauma survivors. Trauma comes in many shapes and forms. Trauma is also unique to each individual -- something that is traumatic for one person is not necessarily traumatic for another. Trauma can be felt in your body, it can be shown in your emotions, it can be remembered in your thoughts. Trauma can affect us without us even realizing it.

In children, trauma is often displayed in behavior. Children may not verbally acknowledge their experiences but they may begin to act out or withdraw. They may display an increase in physical illness.

In adults, trauma can mean that you are "stuck" thinking about or reliving the same thing over and over. Something that happened a long time ago may still feel like yesterday. You may struggle to maintain your emotions or your behavior.

I treat trauma using TF-CBT with children and using EMDR with adults.
Bereavement
Nobody ever tells you how hard grief is. Or that "heart ache" is an actual, physical feeling. Losing a loved one can feel like your heart was literally ripped from your body. It can feel like there is no hope for moving on. You cannot imagine a tomorrow. Bereavement is a terrible and long road to walk. It can feel lonely and it can feel hopeless. There are no shortcuts through grief. But in the middle of this dark abyss, it can make all the difference to have someone walk it with you.

My goal in bereavement therapy is for you to have space. Space to cry. Space to be angry. Space to remember. Space to be sad. There is no right or wrong way to grief. I often say that while there is nothing at first that can help your grief, there are ways to make it worse. It would be my honor to hold space for your grief and to help you navigate through these deep waters.
